Economically Inactive people are those that are not in work or self employed and are not actively seeking work. Overall Devon's economically inactive rate is in line with the national average although this position varies significantly across the county. Reasons for inactivity within the working age population can include; people who are sick/disabled, students, people who are looking after a home/family and people that have retired early.
